Photo retention

What happens to an uploaded photo.

• Photos used to generate an AI illustration are used to produce the artwork that's displayed on the board — the original photo is never shown there. At the moment they submit, the guest chooses whether we also keep a copy of their original photo on file, so the host can optionally include it alongside the illustration in the printed keepsake book. If they don't opt in, we don't save the original at all — only the illustration is kept.
• Photos you explicitly publish "as is" (instead of generating an illustration) are displayed directly on the board, the same as the illustration would be.
• Visibility: before a board is published, its content — including any original photos on file — is visible only to the host and any co-hosts. Once published, board content is visible to anyone with the board's link, the same as the rest of the board's photos and messages.
• Photos, generated AI illustrations, board metadata, and guest text remain until the host deletes the board or account.
